About

Unplugged Aeration is a locally owned lawn aeration company based in Crown Point, Indiana. It was started by a guy who really loves green grass—and got tired of watching people dump time, water, and fertilizer onto lawns that were too compacted to do anything with it.

After seeing the same problem over and over again, he finally came unplugged and decided to fix it. Our mission is simple: help lawns breathe so homeowners actually see results from the lawn care they’re already paying for.

Aeration services aren’t free—but they’re a whole lot cheaper than flushing your water and fertilizer budget straight down the drain. We focus on honest service, noticeable results, and healthier lawns from the ground up, because good grass starts below the surface.

Ever walked past a lawn—or a golf course—and wondered why it looked like dog turds were scattered everywhere? You’re not alone. But rest easy, that wasn’t a careless pet owner. Those little clumps are actually soil plugs pulled from the ground during proper lawn aeration. And the good news? They disappear after a mowing and a rain or two.

There’s a reason golf courses and athletic fields invest so heavily in aeration. They know that—just like us—lawns need to breathe.

Over time, mowing, playing, and everyday foot traffic cause soil compaction. Compacted soil prevents deep root growth and blocks water, air, and fertilizer from reaching where they’re needed most. By pulling small, two- to three-inch plugs once in the spring and once in the fall, aeration relieves compaction and restores your lawn’s natural efficiency.

What are the benefits of aeration?

Need a service, and ready to book?

The channels created by aeration deliver big benefits:

  • Reduces soil compaction from mowing, play, and foot traffic

  • Promotes deeper, stronger root growth

  • Improves water penetration

  • Enhances nutrient and fertilizer uptake

  • Helps manage thatch buildup

  • Boosts seed germination

  • Increases drought and heat tolerance

  • Helps control weeds naturally

Proper aeration works best during mild temperatures and moist soil conditions, which is why treatments are performed in the spring and fall—right when your lawn needs it most.
